Over time our vision changes

Similar to a car, to function properly, we need to routine maintain on our eyes. The easiest way to do this is to have regular eye exams by an optometrist.

Is it time for glasses? Here are some common signs.

Do you squint? This is typically a way your eyes compensate for poor vision. Squinting reduces the size of the image and reduces the light coming into the eye. It is a temporary fix that can put a lot of strain on your eyes.

Do you experience headaches or eye fatigue? There are various factors that can cause eye pain and headaches, both should be checked out by a doctor.

Often times farsightedness or astigmatism can make objects appear blurry, which causes eye strain and headaches.

If you spend a lot of time on the computer or smart phone, the American Optometric Association recommends the 20-20-20 rule.

Do you see halos around light? It may be car headlights appearing in various shapes and sizes or circles around light sources.  Light can seem blurry when eyes don’t focus properly.

Do you have trouble seeing at night? Though there are many reasons why night vision issues occur, poor vision may be the cause. Taking certain medication can also contribute.

Do you lose your place while reading? If you find yourself skipping lines or losing your spot while reading, it could be a vision issue. Strabismus, muscle problem, or astigmatism, can cause this type of problem.”Watch for finger pointing while reading. Children learning to read often point at words with their fingers to improve their skills. But pointing can be the sign of a vision problem like lazy eye,” according to Healthy Women.
