The campaign for ‘Save your Vision Month’ includes 3 considerations:
Giving your eyes a break: The AOA recommends everyone use the 20-20-20 system to deter eye strain. Every 20 minutes take a 20 second great to look at something 20 feet away. The AOA found in children between the ages of 10 and 17, 83 percent of them use electronic devices over three hours a day, eighty six percent doesn’t take a break every 20 minutes. Research shows exposure to blue light can be harmful to the eyes.
Become a savvy shopper: Though purchasing eyeglasses and contact lenses online maybe less expensive and convenient, the AOA warns it could be costing your eyes. Research shows almost half of eyeglasses purchased online either called to meet minimum safety standards or had prescription errors. This could end up being hazardous to your wallet and your eyes.
Your vision is not worth a shortcut: The most important way to preserve the health of your eyes is to have routine compressive eye exams by an eye doctor, there is simply no substitute.
